The 2012-13 Season is Nigh!
2012-2013 Season Review Last season saw Poynton teams achieving success on the field at both junior and senior levels, whilst off the pitch the Club continues to go from strength to strength welcoming many new members as well as several players who will be returning this year. Chairman Graham Edmunds previews what looks to be an exciting season ahead.
Stockport Metros 2012 USA Tour
Metros 2012 USA Tour Summer 2012 saw several young Poynton players taking part in the Stockport Metros Lacrosse tour to Maryland, USA. Poynton has long been associated with the programme which promotes friendship through lacrosse and we know that they had a great time on tour, not only playing lacrosse, but seeing the sights and making new friends along the way. Farewell To The Howarths
Farewell To The Howarths A farewell game for Phil Howarth and his family, Jan, Jake and Jessica, took place on Saturday 21st July. Phil has been a member at Poynton for more than 20 years and the family are soon to be reloacating to New England. The game was attended by a host of players, past and present, who came along to wish them a fond farewell.
Ladies Circle CONTINUE Support FOR Poynton JUNIORs
Ladies Circle Support For Poynton U12's Poynton Ladies Circle have once again very kindly donated funds to our Junior Section to help fund equipment and development for the forthcoming season. Angela Colebrook presented a cheque for £250 to Club Chairman Graham Edmunds at the recent 'Embrace The Games' community event.
Tennessee Wesleyan College Lacrosse England Tour 2011 We were delighted to host Tennessee Wesleyan College Bulldogs lacrosse team for their 8-day 2011 England tour. 3 games were organised which were very competitive and played with a true spirit of sportsmanship and friendship throughout. Sport England Lacrosse Survey Earlier this year Sport England undertook a nationwide survey to gain an understanding of people's 'satisfaction with the quality of the sporting experience’. Over 300 lacrosse players and club officials were invited to respond and the results of the survey are now available.
Poynton Boys Enjoy Metros Success
Stockport Metros For many years Poynton Lacrosse Club has been associated with the Stockport Metros Lacrosse programme which organises junior lacrosse tours to the USA. Several of our young players recently enjoyed a trip to Maryland and took on some of the best junior teams in the USA. Find out more here.
World LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIPs Manchester 2010
World Lacrosse Championships Manchester 2010 The biggest names in the lacrosse world will be in Manchester next year for the 2010 ILF World Championships. With over 30 nations represented, this will be a festival to remember. Tickets are now on sale, and a new website supporting the event is on-line. Find out more here.
Sam's American Dream
Sam's American Dream! Starting out at the club, and previously a regular in our Under 19 and First Team squads, Poynton's Sam Russell has been invited to study (and play lacrosse!) at one of America's most exclusive and prestigious high schools, the Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio.
2007 Season Review
2007 Season Review 2007 was the most successful season in the Club's history, winning the Division 2 Championship, Division 4 and 5 Championships and the Junior Flags final. Poynton were also awarded the Brine Trophy for the most successful club in the North of England. This is a look back on a memorable year from Chairman Graham Edmunds.
