Lacrosse is a fast paced, action packed game and as well as penalty signals, the referee has many technical rules and regulations which he must clearly communicate with the players on the pitch and with officials on the bench. As the game has developed, a series of recognised arm signals has evolved which the referee will use during the course of the game.
On this page you can test yourself to see if you really do know what they all mean! - Below are the lacrosse referee signals from the England Lacrosse official Rules of Men's Lacrosse.
Visit England Lacrosse's Men's Field Lacrosse Rules here. You can download a full copy of the World Lacrosse Men’s Field rules as well as review the England Lacrosse adaptations (there are some rules that England Lacrosse have chosen not to adopt in the UK for the 2025-2026 season).
To test yourself just hover your mouse over each signal for the answer. Oh, and don't forget to check out the last one which is just for fun!
